1. How long have you been in business?
Since 1986... we will complete our 23rd year in 2009!
2. Do you Disc Jockey full time?
Yes, we have office hours from 9:00am until 6:00pm Monday through Friday and seasonal hours on Saturday.
3. Do you have references?
Yes ... our brochure contains references and testimonials from not only bridal couples we've worked for but also includes companies who call on us regularly and banquet managers in the area who see us week in and week out.
4. Do we get to pick our DJ?
Yes, if you would like to ... but 75% of the time at Thomas & Thomas a DJ is assigned to our clients based on two important factors (1) their preferences (ten questions we'll ask you at the time you book our service) that help us to make the right choice from our staff and (2) the fact that our clients trust our reputation and know that they will have a direct conversation with their Thomas & Thomas assigned DJ to put together the program they feel comfortable with.
The other 25% of the time our clients opt to request their DJ with this usually coming from a GREAT referral or having seen this Disc Jockey at a show.
5. What happens if our DJ gets sick or has an equipment breakdown?
On a night we are doing shows, we always maintain (2) complete sound and light systems along with (2) "ON-CALL" Thomas & Thomas DJs. We pay them to be ON-CALL and schedule them (8) weeks in advance at the same time we schedule that entire weekend. We are one of the only DJ companies in the area that actually "pays" staff DJs to be prepped and ready to go in case of an emergency. Also, all of our systems go out with assorted back up equipment to give our DJs the ability to fix a problem before it becomes one!
6. - Can we pick the music?
Yes... we encourage you to pick between 20-30 songs. We supply you with a Music Suggestion & Show Information Form and ask that you return this about (10) weeks in advance of your show. Your Thomas & Thomas DJ will use this form along with requested music encouraged from your guests and the ability to read your crowd to create a great dance atmosphere!
7. Will our DJ have a comprehensive collection of music besides our special requests?
Yes ... they'll be set up for your show from a library of music that is well over 50,000 songs and they'll bring out over 4,000 songs to your show from the Big Band Era through the Top 40 of today.
8. What format is your music on?
Our main format is digital, whether on CDs or computer. A tape player can be made available to accommodate those "not available on CD" songs that pop up every once in a while.
9. Will our DJ be properly attired?
You bet ... and that to us for the most part means Tuxedo...but we give you, the client, the ability to let us know what will fit best.
10. Is Thomas & Thomas Sound Entertainment Inc. insured?
Yes...as a company we have over 3/4 of a million dollars liability insurance.
11. Is Thomas & Thomas a Company or Agency and what is the difference?
We are a company!
With over 70 percent of our business coming to us from the shows we perform at, it has always been important to assure prospective clients of "what they see is what they get. Our DJ's represent Thomas & Thomas using a uniform program highlighted throughout our brochure package, at demonstrations and in this website. This assures our clients of a consistency they have grown to expect. From the DJ's attire, to the type of equipment used and the available music library, there are checks and balances we do on a daily basis to maintain our high standards of quality. With most agencies, this is hard to do because many times the DJ's they represent have different formats they use, different equipment, different music libraries and potentially different ideas on what being a professional mobile DJ is all about.
12. Do you have something you can send me to give me more information about Thomas & Thomas?
Absolutely. We'll be more than happy to send you a free complete package which includes a no obligation Guaranteed Quotation that puts our pricing in writing for you and highlights the completeness of our program, a Brochure with references, our Top 1500 Song Selection Guide and our Wedding Reception Planner.
13. Is the volume of the music adjustable?
It certainly is. Our DJ's are taught to be very conscious of how loud they are playing music, especially during the cocktail and dinner portions of the event. If you feel that the volume is too loud or too soft your DJ will adjust it immediately.
14. How involved do we get with your crowd?
The complete checklist conversation you will have with your DJ gives you the opportunity to discuss exactly how you want your DJ to involve your crowd and encourage their participation. You and your DJ will determine the level of encouragement to be used. Your DJ will never try to be the center of attention or act in a cheesy manner.
15. Can we meet with you...what about with our DJ?
We are always glad to meet with our clients. We encourage you to make an appointment to discuss our program in detail at your convenience. You can request to have a personal meeting with your DJ to go through the checklist for your event if you feel that you would be more comfortable than doing it by telephone.
In closing we would like to quote the people at the Party Professionals website. At the end of their recommended questions to ask a DJ they make the following statement. "One final suggestion is for you to carefully listen to not only what a DJ says when you ask a question, but how they say it. Do they speak with knowledge, passion and a desire to really help you create a successful event? If so, you may have a keeper!"
